What is Child Dedication?
We believe the dedication of children to the Lord is the first step of a child's journey toward God and an act of faith and commitment on the part of the child's parent(s). (Genesis 22:12; 1 Samuel 1:27-28; Matthew 19:13-15)
Dedication is an act of worship and does not secure salvation of the child, but does mark the beginning of the child's spiritual journey. In presenting your child for Christian dedication, you are declaring your intention to raise that child in the knowledge and understanding of God's word, and, to the best of your ability, to regularly attend worship services that enrich and nourish your own soul as well.
At KAC we have Child Dedication services about 4 times per year. A pastor usually meets with the family the week of the dedication to answer any questions the parents might have. During the dedication you will be asked a few questions to which you respond yes/no. The congregation will stand and the pastor will challenge them to support your family as your raise your child to follow Jesus.
