Discussion Questions:
- In a fear-filled world where people are stock-piling toilet paper and selling it for a profit, how might God be calling you to live counter-culturally by replacing fear, anxiety, and worry, with a disruptive witness of the love, hope, and peace of God?
- Fear likes to be the boss, and needs relief…
- What are your go-to escapes, or where you draw strength from when faced with fear?
- Are you currently running to God, or running scared?
- Rather than give in to fear, how can you allow it to remind you of your need for God?
- Fear shows us that we are not in control; what is one practical way you could relinquish control to God, and stop fear in its tracks this week? (ie. limit your exposure to social media, and keep your focus on being informed, and not obsessed.)
- We have the illusion of control in our society, and some of those dependencies are being diminished right now; travel is limited, sports are limited, so rather than replace those with binge-watching Netflix to escape, commit to practices that will remind you that God is our refuge.
- What is one practical step you could take to move this from a theoretical knowledge to a personal knowledge?
- Is God bringing your attention to areas in your own life right now where you need to trust Him more (your priorities, focus, relationships, finances, etc.)?
- This is a great time to dive into the spiritual practices we explored in January and February, and practice faith over fear.
- The Practices: Worship, Sabbath, Generosity, Simplicity, Hospitality, Confession, Reading Scripture, Fasting & Praying, and Celebration.
- Discuss what it would look like to practice these this week.
- Share a time when you’ve experienced God’s ever-present help.
- Can you think of one person you can share life with and serve this week, either practically with groceries, and yes, toilet paper, or relationally with a caring, listening ear?
- Think of one practical idea you would like to commit to, as a disruptive witness this week.
